Change can be hard. Can we just admit that?
This time of year there are changes that refresh us such as winter gray giving way to the green of spring, cold winds turning to warm breezes, school work to freedom! But there are also life-altering, unsettling changes such as children graduating and leaving home, abruptly changing family dynamics. Times of change like these, forcing us to confront the unknown, can throw us into a tailspin!
And what about those times when the chaos of life stops us cold in our tracks and life changes forever… Are you dealing with that as I have?
Thankfully we worship a God who never changes. The circumstances of our life can feel like the waves of the sea, but our anchor and TRUST are in the Lord.
Today marks the 3-year anniversary of Ashley‘s accident when her right arm was amputated. She wants to spend the day celebrating and remembering God’s protection over her life. She calls it her “Ampu-versary!” As a family, we will be celebrating, learning from Ashley to choose JOY even when the circumstances of life go wrong.
As Christians, we know there is a difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is dependent on circumstances and changes like the rolling of the sea. Our joy is not dependent on what life throws at us, but whether we keep our eyes on the Lord who is in control when everything around us seems to be spinning out of control. He is our tether, our anchor, so when the waves come — and they surely will — we are not tossed around like the waves of the sea. And if you doubt the Lord‘s ability to sustain you, Ashley and our family can testify to His loving kindness, faithfulness, and provision in hard times. He has lovingly held us through storm after storm. I want that for you too.
